Vote on August 4

August 4 is Election Day in Union County. Polls will be open from 9:00AM to 8:00PM. Anyone in line by 8:00PM will get to vote. This election has candidates in the Democrat and Republican Primary for the US Congress, Governor, Tennessee House of Representatives, and State Executive Committee Men and Women of the Democrat or Republican Party. The General Election Ballot will cover candidates in the 8th Judicial District, County Offices and local District Offices. The last part of the ballot is a vote on retaining judges for the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Appelate Court.

Upon entering the voting location, the voter will place his photo id in the Poll Pad scanner with the bar code toward the scanner. The voter will be asked to decide which election ballots to vote: Democrat Primary or Republican Primary, and the General Election. The id will be scanned and a ticket printed that notes the ballots selected by the voter including the primary and the general election. The voter then signs the ticket and the register and moves to the voting machine.

The State Republican or Democratic Primary Ballot will appear first, then the Union County General Election. Only the district in which the voter lives will appear on the ballot for County Commission, Road Commissioner, Constable, and School Board. The next several pages after the General Election are the retention elections for Tennessee Appellate and Supreme Court Judges. Be sure to continue to click next page until the big red button lights up. Push the Big Red Button and your vote has counted.

Remember to remove any campaign material before entering the voting location and pocket your cell phone. Candidates can only enter to vote or use the restroom and must not have any visible campaign material.

Call the Election Commission at 865-992-3471 by August 3, if you do not know where to vote.
