UT Extension Union County will host Free Tree Give Away on March 18

On Tennessee Tree Day 2022 we hope to engage 10,000 volunteers in planting 75,000 native trees in all 95 Tennessee counties, as well as counties in neighboring states, encompassing all watersheds that flow through Tennessee.

Each year Tennessee Tree Day engages thousands of volunteers in a fun, meaningful, family-friendly, event that results in multi-generational benefits to our environment, communities and public health.

Since 2007, our Tennessee Tree Day events have mobilized over 60,000 Tennessee residents in planting 741,960 native trees in Tennessee and surrounding states.

Tennessee Tree Day 2022 will involve many stakeholder groups and thousands of volunteers. Some will plant trees to replace those lost to development. Others will plant trees to  help to repair degraded streams and improve water quality. Others will plant trees to increase habitat for wildlife and pollinators, while others will plant trees for purely aesthetic reasons. No matter the reason, all trees planted will improve the health of our environment by reducing air pollution, and enhancing Tennessee's magnificent tree canopy.

TEC and UT Extension hopes participation in Tree Day instills public awareness of the value of trees, while nurturing a culture of sustainability in our region.  UT Extension will have 50 native trees including a selection of red bud, pecan, and mulberry trees. Unless you pre-ordered and paid, trees are available on a first come, first serve basis. Each household can receive 2 free trees. Trees may be picked up at UT Extension, Union County, 3925 Maynardville Hwy, Maynardville, TN 37807 on Friday March 18th 8 am to 4 pm (while supplies last). Parking is limited, to expedite the pick up process, pull in and we will deliver trees to your car.
