Position Title: Afterschool Site Director, Big Ridge Elementary School, Maynardville, Tenn.
Anticipated Start Date: Approximately May 2020
The Big Ridge Elementary Afterschool Program is committed to offering school-age students and community members an afterschool experience that provides enriching learning opportunities in a safe environment to support growth in academic achievement and non-academic skills (physical, mental, and social well-being). This is a 25-30 hour/wk. contracted position. Benefits are not included. Annual renewability is based on performance and availability of funding.
Qualifications
Education (one of three qualifications below needs to apply):
1. BA or BS degree in education, social work, psychology, recreation administration, agriculture, human development, or related field strongly preferred
2. Associate degree, or 48 college credits in youth, child or family studies field
3. High School diploma or GED equivalent with preferred four years of experience working with youth, children or at-risk audiences
Experience, Skills, & Abilities
The ideal candidate has:
• Good leadership skills and experience managing staff
• Demonstrated experience working with children and families
• Understanding of working with diverse populations
• Experience in lesson planning and coordination of enrichment programming
• Innovative thinker that plans/delivers creative, problem-based enrichment content in the areas of STEAM, reading, nutrition/health, social/emotional learning, among others
• Excellent organizational skills and record keeping
• Ability to network and collaborate with community agencies and businesses for unique programmatic opportunities for students and their families
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and through writing/email, a must
• Technology-efficient; Experienced with social media and Microsoft suite applications and/or able to learn new technologies quickly
• Collaborates well with others, is personable, and a team player
• Completes required tasks efficiently and timely
Salary & Benefits: $25/hr. Benefits are not included
Hours: 25-30 hours/week - majority of those hours are spent conducting the afterschool program between the hours of 3:30-6:30 p.m. Hours outside of 3:30-6:30 p.m. can be flexible.
