Union County, TN, My Home Place

A very prominent educator suggested we use this slogan for www.HistoricUnionCounty.com, "Today's Events are Tomorrow's History”. We all know we can’t change history, but we can improve our future by knowing the successes and failures of our past. Our goal for www.HistoricUnionCounty.com is to promote businesses and bring jobs to our community.

Looking at our past, it is very obvious we have a lot of smart and business savvy people born and raised right here in Union County. For example, let’s take a look at the entertainment business. Roy Acuff not only gained national recognition by his talent alone, he was also a smart business man. Chet Atkins, famous for his guitar picking, is another good example of a smart business man. The same thing with Carl Smith and Lois Johnson. We also want to recognize Kenny Chesney, a young former Union County resident using his talent to achieve national recognition, and another very smart business man. One thing all these have in common is the fact that they didn’t sit on their hands and do nothing. They used their talent to pursue their dreams. And it worked. The biggest mistake we can make in life is to simply do nothing. I’m sure all of these and many others with successful careers had some failures before they became successful.

As I said before, our goal is to promote business in Union County. We are offering civic organizations and nonprofits posting privileges for their events free of charge. We also have a classified section for our citizens to use. We have reached folks in every state in the USA except New Mexico. I just recently got a call from Pennsylvania about one of our classifieds. In addition, with this website we are showcasing what a great place this is to live and operate a business. We have so many excellent people living right here in Union County and our low tax rate is a great incentive for businesses to set up shop here.

So, let’s not forget the successes and failures that history has taught us. Be sure and go to church Sunday.
