Union County Rescue Squad kicks off 2021 Fund Drive

The Union County Rescue Squad is asking for an annual donation so that they can continue to provide the citizens and visitors of Union County the absolute best rescue service anywhere.
This year, with the help of your generous donations, they are raising funds to replace aging extrication gear at an estimated cost of $1,300 per person and a total of $26,000 for their members.
The Union County Rescue Squad was set up in 1963 with volunteers who donated their time and efforts to help others. The squad is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
The Union County Rescue Squad provides: Vehicle extrication, search and rescue, water recovery, and other services for the county. They have remained open and in service answering calls during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Captain Joshua Bailey stated that the county provides $22,000 a year to the squad. Ninety-five percent of this amount must be used to cover insurance costs.
Reuben Stansbury, a member since 1965, stated that a few other fund raising projects are the Annual Road Block, the Bass Tournament (which was canceled last year due to COVID) and concession stands at Thunder in the Park--also canceled last year.
When asked about what kind of training was needed to be a volunteer, Bailey stated they could always use good volunteers but ask that anyone interested should come by the squad building at a regular meeting and pick up an application which they will review and do a background check. If the applicant qualifies, then the training will be provided.
The rescue squad meetings are held on the first Monday night of every month at 7 p.m. at 645 Main Street in Maynardville.
There are no tax dollars available for this project and they are hoping that your tax-deductible donation will support this worthy campaign and allow them to purchase this gear for the safety of their members.
All donations can be sent to Union County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 118, Maynardville, TN 37807
