This summer, Tennessee Farm Bureau hosted the Annual Tennessee Young Farmers and Ranchers Summer Conference in Lebanon at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center. During the conference, there was an array of events including collegiate discussion meets, an awards banquet, educational breakout sessions, and even an ice cream social with cornhole games.
The organization is geared towards getting young farmers involved in their communities and advocating for agriculture across local communities, the state and the nation. Rural young people in Tennessee who share a common bond for the agricultural lifestyle, are interested in leadership development, and are dedicated to solving problems facing agriculture are encouraged to participate.
This year, Union County Young Farmers and Ranchers Chairman Jordan Campbell and Union County Farm Bureau Homemaker Allison Campbell attended the Summer Conference expanding their network and knowledge in the young farmers community, gathering insight to use locally. Union County is working towards growing the local group to support agriculture more broadly in the local community. If you are interested in becoming involved call Union County Farm Bureau at 865-992-3871.
Notably recognized at the conference, University of Tennessee student, Union Countian, and young farmer and entrepreneur Savannah Jones was awarded the Tennessee Farm Bureau Leaders Scholarship. Union County is an ag-driven community and to keep it thriving that way, we must advocate to our young people the importance of agriculture to the world and our small communities.
