Union County Plans to Proceed With Sports

With all the new changes going on in the school system due to Covid-19, sports is something I know many are concerned/curious about. It is something some schools have chosen not to do, and some inter-collegiate sports are not being held this semester. Following TMSAA guidelines, Union County Schools are continue their sports, but there will be some things students and fans will find different.

Union County Plans to Proceed With Sports with a few changes. Specifically concerning the Union County Football team, there will be a limited number of fans allowed to attend (650 persons—a 1/3 capacity), and concessions are limited to bottles of water and candy. The band will be in the far end zone in their own folding chairs, masks will be required for those entering, and temperatures will be taken at the gate. All Tickets must be purchased prior to the game; no tickets will be sold at the gate.

For all Sports games in Union County, go to https://gofan.co/app/school/tn11365 to purchase tickets in order to eliminate contact.

Patriot Masks can be bought for just $12!! The boys basketball team is heading up this operation and if you would like to purchase masks, contact shane.brown@ucps.org to reserve yours.

Several Sports are already underway including a girls soccer game vs Central High (Aug. 18th @7pm), a UC Volleyball Game vs Fulton (Aug. 20th @5pm), and UC Football vs Cherokee (Aug. 21st @7:30). Other events can be found on the Union County High School Facebook Page.

Horace Maynard Middle School has also begun sports with Volleyball and Soccer games, but only one gate will be open for entry, and there will be a limit of 100 fans attending. Admission prices are donations at these games.

JV Volleyball team and the Varsity volleyball team won their first games against Robertsville at home!!

All the middle school football games will be held at the UCHS field this year to help with social distancing for fans and parents. Again here will be only 650 people allowed to attend and concessions and masks are following the same guidelines. The price for admission is $6; students can purchase them on pre-sale for $5.
