Union County is Lit
Union County is a beautiful place to live and visit during any season, but this winter was even more sparkling than expected. The Light Up Union County Event, hosted by partnership UT Extension and Union County Chamber of Commerce, generated twenty three divine holiday light displays. The contest was split into three categories this year including Individual, Organization, and Commercial Business. A Facebook poll was conducted, running about two weeks, for each category.
This year's Individual Winner was voted Bobby Hampshire for his "Lighting Up Union County to be Seen from the Space Station" display. For the Organizations sector, Maynardville Elementary topped the polls with the unique "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" theme. Finally, Commercial Business Winner was awarded to Beverage Solutions Group as the "Up on the Rooftop" setup. These, as well as all other entrants, outdid themselves in their designs and showcases.
The community working together to create these light shows is a work of art enjoyed by many. All the hard work invested is much appreciated and looked forward to for next year's Christmas season. Whether you put up lights, drove through town to enjoy the displays, or have an interest in community growth, be sure to take this year's survey about the event at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/83TZQZ3.
