UCHS Hosts College Application and Exploration Week

In an effort to promote college awareness and access, Union County High School will participate in College Application and Exploration Week, a statewide initiative sponsored by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and CollegeforTN.org, on September 16-21, 2019.

The goal of Tennessee College Application Week is to provide all Tennessee seniors the opportunity to complete and file college applications with the support of their school. While much of the focus of College Application Week is geared toward first-generation college students and students who may not otherwise apply to college, Union County High School will also offer college awareness displays for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have already applied to college. This is the 8th annual College Application and Exploration Week held at Union County High School.

Joanie Brock, College Application Week event site coordinator for Union County High School, is expecting more than 175 seniors to participate with the help of volunteers from local officials' offices, UCHS Counseling Department, area universities, area community colleges, area trade schools, and many others. “College Application and Exploration Week provides additional opportunities for our students to research post-secondary education options, complete and submit their college or trade school applications, and all of these things are accomplished with the support of the local community. The event is a unique opportunity to create a college going culture in Union County,” said Brock.
