Listen up! Here is a hooping, affordable sporting opportunity for Union County youths. The Union County Youth Basketball (UCYB) League is currently tipping off signups.

Ran by volunteers, the league’s mission is to provide children in the community with the opportunity to participate in recreational sports such as basketball; feeling it is important to provide them with the opportunity to learn about sportsmanship, teamwork, hard work, discipline and to foster a love of being active. Participating in this type of program is good for the children, parents, and community all around. Get your child(ren) involved and active!

The league is recruiting for ages 5-12 with a cutoff of January 1. Teams are co-ed and from our local community. All games with be on held on Saturdays at Paulette Elementary School gym with a winter game season beginning in January and lasting through February.

Signup events are planned for the following: Friday, October 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 23 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, October 27 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. located at Lil’ Jo’s BBQ. All you need to bring to sign up is $50 (cash only). The cost will cover each players jersey and insurance, as well as providing the leagues ability to pay for basketballs, refs, janitorial services, and trophies.

It is more fun with more players and teams, so don’t back court this opportunity. Round up your friends, families, and neighbors and get those kids on the court. There may also be a need for coaches once the signups have taken place and teams are weighed out for each age group.
