Truett Davis wins first place in talent at Appalachian Fair

1st Place Winner: Truett Davis, 2nd Place Winner: Julia Martin, 3rd Place Winner: Lakely Asher

Truett Davis, a member of Union County 4-H, took home first place in the Youth and Talent Contest at the Appalachian Fair last month. There were seven contestants, ranging in age from 12 to 21. Truett was the youngest participant at 12 years old. He has taught himself piano over the past couple of years, and only just last week, began formal instruction with a piano teacher. He played "Rush E" and the audience was delighted.
"I was very surprised that I would place that high. I’m really happy that I did. I thank the Lord that he gave me the opportunity to do that," said Truett Davis.
This is not the first time Truett has made the news. In April, his "Cinnamon Roll Cornbread" recipe was selected as a Top 10 finalist and he was invited to compete in the National Cornbread Festivals' Youth Cook Off in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. In addition, he won the National Beef Council's "Beef, it's What's for Dinner" competition two years ago with his video demonstration for Italian Beef Meatball Sandwich Rolls. He has entered 4-H Public Speaking competitions and made it to regionals. In addition to piano and cooking, he enjoys playing basketball and building complex Lego structures.
We are excited to see what his next adventures will be.
