The Swine Program, established in 1943 in Union County, began with twenty-six 4-H members raising pigs. Over the years, the program has thrived, with participants showcasing their livestock at the Union Stock Yards.

Under the leadership of Agent Shannon DeWitt, the program has seen remarkable success, producing several state-level winners from Union County, including Kennedy Hill and Savanah Jones. Kennedy achieved notable recognition by winning the Tennessee State Livestock Skillathon in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. In 2020, she also claimed the Market Hog title in the Breeding Gilt Swine Premiere Exhibitor category. Additionally, Kennedy served as a collegiate member on the Tennessee 4-H Foundation Board in 2023.

In 2023, the program continued to engage youth, with twenty-three 4-H members participating.
