The Union County Farmer’s Market is still up and going on Saturday’s (10am-1pm) lasting through October in the parking lot of Wilson Park, next to the high school. This farmer’s market is essential for the farmers around the county. Here they have the chance to promote their products as well as make a profit. Isn’t that what we all want? Fresh produce from the farm to the table is a nice exchange for processed foods or even some that are “fresh” in your local grocery store may not be as fresh and tasty as what you will more than likely find at your local farmer’s market. Some items you can expect to find include meat, flowers, peaches, produce, honey, sweets, treats, and even crafts! What a great way to spend your Saturday morning! Don’t forget to stop by and get your fresh groceries this Saturday!

The Union County Opry holds monthly Saturday night entertainment sessions at 7pm in the Union County High School Auditorium where country, folk, bluegrass and comedy shows are presented. The Union County Opry has been providing entertainment, inspiration and encouragement for several years and operates as a non-profit organization, their primary goal being to bring joy to their community. Below are listed some important dates to remember: all shows begin at 7pm and doors open at 5pm.

August 15th—Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers will appear.
August 29th - Mayberry Comes to Maynardville (tickets are priced at $10 each)
September 12—T Graham Brown will be joining Union County in some great entertainment, and tickets will be $15-$20 each.

November 21st—Balsam Range
December 5th—Christmas Show!

On July 20th, The First Baptist church of Maynardville is hosting their backpack giveaway from 5pm-7pm. This giveaway is something The First Baptist Church of Maynardville does every year, and through this ministry, parents can provide their children with the necessary educational products without the stress of the additional costs. Backpacks, pencils, clothes, and other essentials are given to any and all who have need of them. All a person needs is proof of residency with a piece of mail; a bill is acceptable.
