String up your Christmas lights
By Shannon DeWitt
Do you love decorating for the holidays? Do you love driving around to see Christmas lights? We have a fun contest for everyone who likes Christmas lights.
UT Extension Union County will host its annual Light Up Union County Contest in 2021 to get our town decorated for the holiday season. Whether your skill is closer to the Charlie Brown tree or Clark Griswold, we want to see your lights.
Anyone can enter whether you are an individual citizens, community organization or local business. We want our community to be a shining beacon in 2021.
The minimum requirement for the display to be easily visible when lit. The décor can be as simple as a few lights or as extravagant as you would like. The decorations should be constructed with a good, clean, wholesome nature. No vulgar or suggestive decorations will be allowed. Decorations should be weather and wind proof and not include any political party signs of any kind. Outdoor and indoor decorations are allowed.
All that is required for you is to submit an entry form and one photo of the display taken in the dark by December 15. Entrants must submit their own photo. The one photo can be a single photo or a collage. We will post the photos to Facebook for a “like” contest and announce the winners in each category.
