Still time to complete your 2020 census

If you have lost or misplaced your 2020 Census Form that came by mail, you can complete your form by phone from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. For English call (844) 330-2020, or to hear Spanish call (844) 468-2020. Depending on how many people live in your household, the census takes about 10 minutes. You will need to verify your address and then answer 10 questions for each person who lived in the household on April 1.
You can also complete the census online by using a computer or smartphone. Go to my2020census.gov and click Start Questionnaire. Then verify your address and answer the questions.
Your information will not be reported individually but will combine with answers to provide population data that federal, state and local lawmakers will use to fund education, roads, senior centers, emergency services, and health programs, to name a few, for the next 10 years.
Federal money paid most of the Highway 33 improvements. Federal money that flows through the state helped put an SRO at all of the schools. Federal funds provide computers, materials, instruction and professional development in Union County public schools.
Sixty percent of U.S. and Tennessee households have completed the 2020 Census. In Union County, 55% of the households have responded. The three city response rates are: Plainview 66%, Maynardville 56% and Luttrell 57%.
Response rates by computer are significantly lower for rural areas of Tennessee. Only about a fourth of Union County responses have used the internet, however, many urban areas have had more than 70% use their computer or smartphone.
The U.S. Census is mandated by the Constitution. Show your support for the Constitution and be counted.
