Sharps Chapel Festival

If you weren’t able to attend Sharps Chapel’s Fall Festival last September with the rest of the 3,000 visitors, rest assured that fun plans are already in the making for Saturday, September 28. We interviewed the festival’s co-presidents, Kelly Clarke and Miranda Sharp.

What can the community expect to see this year?

Live music, several food trucks, vendors, and a family friendly KidZone. There’s something for everyone! Additionally, the car show will begin at 10 a.m. and will host all classics, hot rods, motorcycles, American muscle, imports and street rods for only a $20 pre-registration fee. There will also be a Beauty Pageant, which will begin at 9 a.m. for ages 0-14 years old and has a $40 pre-registration fee. A Cowboy Contest for the best cowboy attire (ages 0-14 years old) will follow, with prizes for all ages. The deadline entry for both the Beauty Pageant and Cowboy Contest will be September 1.

Our KidZone will have bounce houses, corn bins, a miniature pumpkin patch, carnival games and a petting zoo this year.

The Scarecrow Contest is also new this year and will help raise funds for the Union County American Legion. This contest is open to individuals and groups with cash and ribbon prizes. Registration forms will be released soon.

One of our most exciting projects is going to the Sharps Chapel History Exhibit. This year, we will be focusing on the schools and churches of Sharps Chapel and invite everyone to share pictures and artifacts for display in the community building. We hope our locals will appreciate seeing and honoring their loved ones who worked so hard to establish the place we call home, and we welcome all to learn about what the community has to share. We can hardly wait to see what treasures our community has. If you’d like to share photos or artifacts for the Sharps Chapel History Exhibit, please contact Miranda Sharp.
How do I get involved?

We have several volunteers on our committee who have done an excellent job collaborating with various people within the community to make this an even more successful event than it was last year. We provide opportunities for students needing volunteer hours for both Beta Club and TN Promise and hope to see them back again. Anyone is welcome to volunteer. Just send us an email if you’re interested.
If you thought last year’s decorations were festive, wait until you see them this year! If you’d like to help out, our decorating team is looking for 200 rinsed yellow milk jugs which can be dropped off at Sharps Chapel Market (No Wake)
.
Where can I learn more?

We are working on our website where vendors, sponsors, car show contests, beauty pageant contestants, scarecrow builders and other people can conveniently register. We also have a Facebook page that we encourage everyone to “Like” and follow for news and updates. It is simply called “Sharps Chapel Fall Festival.” For questions please email chapelfallfest23@gmail.com.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

We can’t wait for this event and look forward to seeing everyone there!
