Sharps Chapel Book Club’s Eighth Annual Book Donation to Local School
By Mary Nicholas Johnson
A tradition since 2014, the Dewey Decimals book club at Sunset Bay made their 8th annual book donation to the Sharps Chapel Elementary School library. At their annual Christmas lunch, this year held in the historic town of Cumberland Gap and catered by the Nineteen19 food truck, each member brought several books to donate. This is the highlight of the year for many of the members, who share with others in the group why they picked the books they did – often because of memories from their childhood. This year, over 40 books were donated. The club has donated thousands of dollars worth of books to the library over the years.
Lisa Brantley, the librarian at Sharps Chapel Elementary, says the children benefit so much from the new books and she is so thankful for the donations. Merry Christmas everyone!
