Union County High School seniors were honored for their exceptional devotion and work for the Patriots at the UCHS football game on October 25. The Patriots faced the Sullivan South Cougars in a cold pouring rain. Luckily, UCHS pulled off the win in an 18-12 final score.
Football, cheer, band and color guard seniors marched onto the field at 7 p.m. accompanied by their parents and family members. God Bless America played as the Patriots and families filled the field. Football teammates were carrying American flags in the presentation, creating a beautiful patriotic scene.
These youths have poured their time and dedication into these sports giving themselves, their parents, classmates, coaches and community something to look forward to and be proud of.
First, the football players aligned and were announced, quickly followed by the members of the band, color guard and cheer team. A dozen football players, ten band and color guard members, and seven cheerleaders are graduating.
Each student was recognized with highlights of their school activities, parents and future plans.
There was a range of activities, but the future plans coming from these teenagers was impeccable. The goals set ranged from work, certifications, colleges, or job study to civil engineering, police academy, art school, welding school and so much more. Fishing with the fellows from Drake Waterfowl was even a goal of senior Zach Pierce. University of Tennessee, Lincoln Memorial University, East Tennessee State University, Tennessee Technical University, University of the Cumberlands, and several others were all listed as perspective schools for this fine group of young folks.
It is humbling to know that these kids are driven by hard work and commitment and such results make them shine. Make sure to let them know how much they are appreciated and give them the resources they need to work toward reaching their goals. As it is well known, important things are accomplished by future America, and that starts with these diligent young people.
