Pray4TN

On July 20, Union County residents joined Mayor Jason Bailey, TN Rep Monty Fritts, Sheldon Livesay (Co-Ordinator for both National Day of Prayer and the TN Prayer Coalition), and Arnold Smallin (Chaplain for both the Tri-County Honor Guard and the Union County American Legion Post 212), at the County Courthouse for Pray4TN.
Pray4TN is a movement across all of Tennessee to pray for every household in Tennessee. It is sponsored and organized by the TN Baptist Mission Board. Mr. Livesay opened the event with a prayer for all the people specifically in Union County. The prayer movement is based upon the second book of Chronicles, chapter 7, verse14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.

Pray4TN participants feel that our country is badly in need of prayer to counteract the growing national issues of drug addition, alcoholism, human trafficking, violent crime in schools and so many other ills that plague us today. Rep Fritts has a goal of traveling to all 95 counties in TN and asking people in each individual county to pray for every household in their community. He has completed over half of this goal. Some churches in TN are adopting their closest neighbors for evangelistic prayer.
Rep Fitts was one of the sponsors of the 113th General Assembly House Joint Resolution 803** which passed the House in April 2024. Resolution 803 designates the period of July 1, 2024, through July 31, 2024, as a time of prayer and fasting in Tennessee and seeks God’s hand of mercy healing on Tennessee.

Arnold Smallin, Chaplain for both the Tri-County Honor Guard and the Union County American Legion Post 212, and Union County Mayor Jason Bailey share a word before the event.
