Plainview growing, Satterfield honored
David Williams, Plainview Planner, and Stewart Skeen, Zoning Officer, review the requests for property changes.
After the Plainview Planning Commission and the Plainview Board of Aldermen adjourned their respective meetings, attendees celebrated Betty Satterfield's birthday. Betty was the city recorder for many years from the founding of Plainview until her retirement. Betty is 89 years young.
Plainview is experiencing a housing growth. The developers, Chris Tolliver and Travis Bowman are completing the last two houses in Plainview Acres and the houses are all sold or under contract. Two more lots near Plainview Acres may be sold in the near future according to Stewart Skeen, the Zoning Officer. David Williams, the City Planner, advised the Planning Commission regarding various properties involving owners who have requested easements, rezoning, or subdivisions.
Eddie Perry was released from his road bond now that he has completed the group of houses off Tazewell Pike near Peri Realty, his agency which is located in the former Ailor’s Store.
Plainview will have a flagpole erected at the site of the emergency services building where the fire department and ambulance service are located. Vice Mayor Richard Phillips also reported that a new HVAC split unit has been installed at the city office building. Mayor Gary Chandler noted that the fence is being replaced because the former chain link fence is no longer available. A tree fell on the fence during a recent storm. To make the entire fence more uniform, new fencing is being installed that will improve the security as well as the appearance.
There will be no City of Plainview meetings on November 8 because the building is being used for the General Election. The next meeting will be on December 13 with the Planning Commission at 6:30 p.m. with the Board of Aldermen meeting to follow at 7.
