Plainview elects Beeler mayor

Election Administrator Candy Booker continues a time honored tradition as she announces the Plainview and Maynardville election results from the courthouse steps in Union County.

The Plainview election has buzzed with anticipation as a record 171 votes were cast in the early voting. For the first time in recent memory, two candidates, current Mayor Gary D. Chandler and Commissioner Lynn Beeler, ran for Mayor of Plainview. Three candidates, Keith Brantley, Gordon Bright and Rebecca Lock challenged for two seats. On election day, 206 voted.
Lynn Beeler will serve as Plainview mayor for the next four years. Newcomer Keith Brantley and incumbent Rebecca Lock were elected aldermen. The unofficial results of the Plainview City election on June 25: for mayor, Beeler 226 and Chandler 151. Aldermen votes were Brantley 283, Bright 140, Lock 267.
On the same date, Maynardville elected three city councilmen. Elected were Isaac Collins, Len Padgett, and Conner Chesney. Six candidates were on the ballot and the unofficial results were Conner Chesney 101, Isaac Collins 125, Kayla Luck 68, Len Padgett 102, Danny Smith 77, and Tim Young 86.
