Plainview discusses ADUs, hires part time officer
Cameron Baker is sworn in by mayor Lynn Beeler as Plainview's part time officer for Plainview.
Plainview Planning Commission and Board of Aldermen continued discussion of auxiliary dwelling units at the regular October meeting but took no action. Jordan Rockwell, City Planner, offered two ordinances but neither received action. Rockwell will revise the suggested ordinances based on the discussion. The Board of Aldermen decided to drop the request for MTAS to develop a noise ordinance for Plainview. In a housekeeping motion, Plainview changed a resolution number that was out of sequence.
Reports included the zoning officer, the police, and the fire department. Stewart Skeen, zoning officer, wrote two permits and reported that the building inspector would be at the November meeting. Chief Deputy Johnny Collins reported 53 calls for the police department including 9 wrecks, 9 citations, and one child placed in DCS custody. Mayor Beeler announced that Cameron Baker had been hired as the part time officer. The mayor also noted that Plainview Police department would host a trunk or treat on Halloween evening. Everyone was reminded to obtain a burn permit from Burnsafetn.org in order to burn any organic material from October 15 through May 15.
The next Plainview meetings will be on November 12 with the Planning Meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the Board of Aldermen to follow.
