The Plainview Planning Commission and the Board of Aldermen considered several business items at their March meeting. The City of Plainview Planning Commission will change its subdivision regulations for roads to require a 2-inch asphalt binder instead of the stated 2.5 inch asphalt binder.
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing before their meeting at 6:30 p.m. on April 12 to hear public comments regarding the proposal. The commission agreed to consider the change upon the recommendation of the codes enforcement officer and the city planner.
The Planning Commission has approved and recorded all of the documents regarding Plainview Acres, a 14-house subdivision in Plainview off Tazewell Pike that is being developed by Chris Tolliver.
Tolliver will provide the binder for Plainview Acres and has provided a letter of credit to set aside up to $45,400 to finish the road. Plainview will complete the paving after most of the houses are constructed.
Plainview Board of Aldermen approved a resolution to apply for a Community Block Development Grant to make improvements on Corryton Road including where the road intersects Tazewell Pike. The grant has a 13 percent local match. Vice Mayor Richard Phillips also reported that the security cameras have been installed. Plainview has asked TDOT to perform a traffic study on SR 131. He also announced the Budget Workshop scheduled for March 24 and invited everyone to attend. The next meeting is April 12 with Planning Commission at 6:30 p.m. and the Board of Aldermen at 7 p.m. at Plainview City Hall.
