Peanut butter-banana cream pie

Do you get the idea that I like pie? I certainly do. My sweet tooth is a mile wide and beyond belief deep. I just plain like pie!

This is another of those recipes that would have been hard to make back in the day. Wouldn't the cooks of yesteryear liked to have had Cool Whip? Didn't happen. There was no Fridgidaire Refrigerator to keep it in. Hey, we didn't even have electricity. I do now , so here we go.

PEANUT BUTTER-BANANA CREAM PIE
Prepared graham cracker or vanilla wafer crust
4 ounces (1/2 of 8-oz pkg) softened cream cheese
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 cups milk
2 pkgs (3.4 -oz each) vanilla instant pudding mix
8-ounce carton thawed Cool Whip, divided
1 large banana
1/4 cups chopped peanuts.

Beat the softened cream cheese and peanut butter with hand mixer until creamy and well mixed. Gradually beat in the milk. Add the pudding mix and beat at medium speed for about 1 minute. Then gently stir in 1 ½ cups Cool Whip. Slice banana into bottom of prepared crust. Cover with filling. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Garnish with remaining Cool Whip and sprinkle chopped peanuts over Cool Whip just before serving.
