Gee, wished I was as smart as you all!

Then, I wouldn’t believe in God either. What a life we could then have. Let us eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.1 If it feels good, do it! After all, when we die we cease to exist.

But wait! Even though I may choose to deny the existence of a higher power, I cannot live like that. I am a civilized person with a more evolved sensibility. I must work for the betterment of humanity. I have a hope that the human race can rise above our primal instincts, that together mankind can work for a better future! Hope and Change! Yes, that is what I believe in. Hope in what? Something, Anything, Who, What? A Theory! Yes a Theory. I will place my hope in a Theory!

Some scientist will come along and discover the “Theory of Everything”. Mankind will self- right because of the brilliant simplicity explained by this theory and we will all live forever in Shangri-La here on Earth. Or at least until the sun explodes, or a comet hits us or an asteroid, perhaps a gamma-ray burst.2

Must I understand all aspects of this “Theory of Everything”? Not really, but I don’t want everyone to think I am a fool, they said it was simple. A “Unified Theory of Everything” If I sound smart, don’t offend anyone (anyone that is enlightened that is, the ignorant “Bible Thumpers” are free game!) and generally go along with the will of the Theorist, everything should be just fine. I can spout off a few impressive sounding words: such as; quantum mechanics, field theory, or even name a few subatomic particles. Did anyone else see that quark? LOL. Why, I’ll even throw around a few lesser known physicist names like; Schrodinger, Heisenberg or Planck. I’ll be careful not use Einstein or Hawking’s too much as every dummy knows those guys, even the buffoonish “Bible Thumpers” know those two. My better educated friends completely understand the Theory, why some of them can even do the math! I’ll just have to take their word for it.

Plus, if I don’t really like the current theory and live long enough a better Scientist will develop a New “Theory of Everything” that makes me feel even better, when I’m lying in the hospice dying of the latest space born disease which infiltrated our atmosphere via a meteorite.

Yep, that’s what I want to believe in! I will place my faith in science and the universal language of mathematics.

Come on atheist have a little more faith than that, read the Bible one more time with all pretext laid aside and ask yourself this question while reading: God if you exist, show me?
