Nourish Kids Kicks Off

UT Extension Union County Program Assistant presenting to UC youths about programs at the Union County Farmers Market

Join us on Saturday, May 22, as the Union County Farmers Market kicks off our Nourish Kids program. This will be the second season that the market has partnered with Nourish Knoxville to present this program. Through a grant, Nourish Knoxville has been able to assist markets like ours throughout East Tennessee, providing materials and Produce Bucks making this program possible.

Meet us at the UT Extension booth to register if you have a child ages 2-12 years. Nourish Kids Club is FREE and includes a fun activity, a sample of something locally grown, and $5 in Produce Bucks for your child to spend at the market.

Following Nourish Knoxville guidelines, everything will be packaged in a take-home kit. Perhaps later in the season, we will actually resume meeting at the market as a kid’s club. Nourish Kids provides an opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. Kids build relationships with farmers, create positive associations with fruit and vegetables, develop budgeting skills, and begin to influence their local food economy.

We’re open from 10am – 1pm on Saturday. We’re looking forward to seeing both you and your children back at the market this year!
