Nourish Kids Kick-off

Join us this Saturday, May 28, as the Union County Farmers Market kicks off our Nourish Kids program. This will be the third season that the market has partnered with Nourish Knoxville to present this program. Through a grant, Nourish Knoxville has been able to assist markets like ours throughout East Tennessee, providing materials and Produce Bucks making this program possible.

Meet us at the UT Extension booth to register if you have a child ages 2-12 years. Nourish Kids Club is FREE and includes a fun activity, a sample of something locally grown, and $5 in Produce Bucks for your child to spend at the market.

This year, we will be back to meeting at the market as a Kids Club! Your family may drop by at any time and participate in our fun programs, we’ll even be mixing up some recipes, and reading a great story. Nourish Kids will be conducted on the third Saturday each month and StoryThyme will be part of Nourish Kids at 11:15am.

Nourish Kids provides an opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. Kids build relationships with farmers, create positive associations with fruit and vegetables, develop budgeting skills, and begin to influence their local food economy.

Remember – we have moved! The market is open under the pavilion at the new, Heritage Park. We’re still open from 10am – 1pm on Saturdays and will be opening on Wednesdays beginning in June. We’re looking forward to seeing both you and your children back at the market this year!
