Nothing Is Impossible For My Dad

When I was still a child, I thought my dad was bigger than life! He could do anything in my eyes. I really didn’t consider that he might have some limitations.

When I was around ten years old, my sister, who was about seven years of age, climbed a very tall pine tree. This pine tree stood in our backyard to the right side of our then two-story house. The tree must have been around 20 feet tall. I’m guessing my sister must have climbed twelve to thirteen feet up that pine tree because she climbed higher than the top of our house.

It seems like the branches on pine trees are mostly found toward the top of the tree but they have lots of knotty stubs from the bottom to the top of the tree trunk. My sister had used the knotty stubs to get her footing to climb up the tree. As she climbed up the tree the knotty stubs broke off. This created a bit of a problem when she decided she had climbed high enough and wanted to make her way down the tree.

I was standing at the bottom of the tree thinking what a little monkey she was not realizing the danger. Then, she called out to me and ask, "How am I going to get down?" I replied, "The same way you got up!"

I heard her panic and realized that she was not able to get her footing in place to climb down the tree. I knew I could not help her and I knew who I needed to find to help, Dad! So, I ran into the house to get Mom and Dad. When they came out and saw how high my sister had climbed, I could see the concern in their face.

Dad, sprang into action. Being the handyman he is, he had a ladder with an extension long enough to just barely allow him to reach her. So, Dad climbed up the ladder and rescued my sister. I’m sure the rescue was much more complicated than my description. My dad rescued my sister. No doubt, the prayer factor played a role into my sister’s rescue as well. For one, I was praying, and I’m sure my mom, dad and sister were all praying too.

Now that I am older, I do realize that my Dad is human and therefore he does have some limitations. He is still a strong man capable of accomplishing many things and will always be a noble, honorable, best human Dad ever in my eyes! But, I have a heavenly Father that has no limitations, “with God all things are possible” Matthew 19:26.

When I came to know Christ as my Savior, He made me joint heir, “A child of God”, and now I can call him Abba, Father or in our words “DAD” (See Romans 8:15). It is awesome to have a DAD that I can call on in prayer where nothing is impossible with Him. This is why I can say Nothing is Impossible For My DAD!

God has extended this same privilege to all those who believe on Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
