Norris Lake Quilt Bee created a thin blue line flag quilt for Sharps Chapel resident, Kelly Clarke, in support of her mentorship and commitment to the training of women in law enforcement. Kelly retired from service after 30 years in law enforcement as a Captain Commander for the
California Highway Patrol. Now in retirement, Kelly is mentoring young women police officers through the Sisterhood of Law Enforcement (SOLE) Training Summit. The Summit, to be held in Durango, Colorado in October, is 5 days of team building, advanced tactics, emotional survival, emergency casualty care, tactical firearms, and leadership development for women police officers from all over the country. SOLE teaches advanced skills for officers to improve officer and public safety as it
pushes women officers to a higher level. Kelly has been working hard to raise local support for this program and funding to cover the costs for the women officers attending. Norris Lake Quilt Bee members have contributed to this fundraising and wanted to show their support and pride in what Kelly is doing through this tangible gift of a quilt for her bunk at the training.
