No, I didn't

It had been a long, tiring day at work and I had stopped by the Ingles in Halls on my way home. I didn’t really want to stop, but we needed a few things. You know how it is.
After racing through the store, I threw my bags into the car and slid into the driver’s seat. I turned the key. Nothing. No dash lights. My car didn’t even make any noise. So, I called Tim and told him my car wouldn’t do anything. He asked what I meant by that. I replied, “It isn’t doing anything. No lights. No noises. Nothing!”

He hopped in his truck and headed my way. Since we live off of Emory Road, he got there in about five minutes. He got into my car and turned the key. “It really isn’t doing anything.” He raised the hood and proclaimed. “The battery’s dead. I’ll jump it off.” He proceeded to the back of his truck. “Oh no.”

“Oh no what?” I asked.

“I took out the jumper cables the other day and didn’t put them back in the truck.”

“You didn’t think to make sure you had them when I told you my car wasn’t doing anything?” I asked.

“No, I didn’t.” With that, he went back home and came back with the jumper cables. Too bad they didn’t work. My car still wouldn’t do a thing. Tim scratched his head. “Your battery is so dead that it won’t even jump off. I’ll have to take it out and get a new one.” He went back to his truck. “Oh no.”

“Oh no what,” I asked again.

“I left the tool box in the garage,” He answered.

“You didn’t think to get that when you went back for the jumper cables?” I asked.

“No, I didn’t” He hopped back into the truck and went back home for the second time. When he came back, he opened his tool box. “Oh no.”

“What’s wrong now?” I asked.

“When I changed the battery in the lawn mower the other day, I must not have put the tools back in here. “

“So, you knew you would have to take out the battery, but you didn’t check to make sure the tools you needed were in your toolbox?” I asked.

“No, I didn’t.” He scratched his head again.

This time I rode back home with him. I was tired of standing by my car with the hood up. When he got back into the truck I asked, “Is there anything else we can possibly need?”

“No, I am certain this time.”

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)

I think in the world today, it is especially imperative for us as Believers to be ready at all times to defend our beliefs. There are so many misunderstandings of our faith and, to be honest, those who aim to distort it. So, get yourself prepared by reading and studying your Bible.

To be honest, I also wasn’t prepared for my car battery to be dead for I had just bought a gallon of ice cream. And it was a warm day. While waiting on Tim, I took it back inside and the store manager was kind enough to let me put it store it in their freezer. So, if you ever see ice cream in a bag in store freezer, just pray for the person having car trouble.
