The Moron Brothers Bring Comedy and Music to the Union County Opry
The Moron Brothers will be coming to Union County Opry May 4, 2019
The Moron Brothers will perform on stage at the Union County Opry for the first time this Saturday at the Union County High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6PM and the show will start at 7PM sharp.
Pick ‘n’ grin buddies Mike Carr and Mike Hammonds, The Moron Brothers, have been performing comedy and music in front of bluegrass audiences for over 20 years. The Brothers comedy and wisdom, shared through hilarious stories and original songs, are a favorite at Bluegrass Festivals across the nation. The Moron Brothers have shared the stage with greats like JD Crowe, Eddie Adcock, Bobby Osborne and Rhonda Vincent just to name a few.
According to Carr, “We’re a couple of country store front porch pickers and storytellers.” The Brothers' bring comedy and original music to the bluegrass stage reminiscence of Homer and Jethro, the Smothers Brothers, Rod Brasfield and Minnie Pearl. They have toured coast to coast, in the United Kingdom, and appeared on the Grand Ole Opry, but they’ve got a particular bond with Appalachia, favoring audiences in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
The Moron Brothers typically share a little serious fare with audiences – some gospel tunes and topical material. The well-known Kentucky-based bluegrass duo recently got a lot of attention for a video of their song “Never Take A Knee”. Songwriter Mike Carr, one half of The Moron Brothers, wrote the song in response to NFL players kneeling during The National Anthem. In just over a week, the video posted on Facebook had been viewed nearly four million times.
The pair is usually known for their humor, but Carr said he didn’t want to joke about this topic. He sees standing for the flag as showing respect for veterans and people who want to protest should find another way to do it other than kneeling during the anthem.
Don’t miss these Country Comedians at the Union County Opry on May 4, 2019. Opening the show will be Chris Muncey with Narrow Way and Sawyer Blankenship with Current Situation. The Opry is held in the auditorium of the Union County High School (150 Main St. Maynardville TN, 37807). Tickets are only $10 each at the door.
