Mason Tender To Mason

There are two masons in my family now. Who was the first one? Me, who else? I have been laying block or stone for most of my adult life. I can show you everything from fireplace to walls to walks. I am good. I can lay a wall at a fifteen degree angle without using a level. Yes, I , , , am . . . good!

Who is the second mason in my family? I am glad you asked. It is my eighteen year old grandson, Joseph McMurtrie. He got a job recently as a mason tender. It's a start.

Twenty dollars an hour is nothing to sneeze at. I never made that much during any of my working days. My first paying job was in a sewing factory at $2.00 per hour. My next sewing job was at $2.15 per hour. The extra fifteen cents was because i was experienced.

Making mastectomy bras is about as hard a sewing job as you can find. Try sewing the center seams of a bra without using pins. Pull and ease is how it is done. Ease the top section on without a pucker..

There is no such problem with a concrete block. Just get it level in every direction. This could be a lifetime job for Joseph. A good mason is always in demand.

I have told Joseph how proud i am of him. He will be able to save enough cash to put a deposit on a trailer and maybe get married. There is definitely a shortage of grandchildren in my family. Way to go, Joseph!
