Light the Night lit up Wilson Park for the holidays
A little over 100 UCBPA members and citizens attended the first annual Light the Night in Wilson Park on December 1. Unfortunately the lights on the Emily Link Gazebo were on for only two seconds before the ground fault interrupter shut off the power. Martin Shafer and Bill Collins, the county maintenance supervisor, spent much of December 4 correcting the issues and adding timers purchased by Union County Business and Professional Association. Thanks to the cooperation between Union County and UCBPA, the gazebo remained lighted each evening until after the holidays.
The UCHS Band and the UCHS Chorus performed a medley of holiday songs. Among the songs were arrangements of Jingle Bells, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, Joy to the World, Auld Lang Syne, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Hunter Collins is the band director and Hannah Haynes leads the chorus. Both the band and the chorus were outstanding and they are a real asset to our school system and our county.
Thank you to the following businesses and members who set up refreshments and activity tables to serve the public:

Sidney Jessee Jr., chairman of the jail committee for Union County Commission, will discuss options for the new jail at the meeting on Tuesday, January 9.
