Police Chief Kenny Crider receives the oath of office from Plainview Mayor Lynn Beeler.
On August 28, Plainview Mayor Lynn Beeler administered the oath of office to Kenny Crider, Plainview's new police chief. Chief Crider comes to Plainview with a wealth of experience in law enforcement and investigation.
His career began with the Union County Sheriff's Department in 2005 as a corrections officer. In 2008, he graduated from the Police Academy. By 2012, he assumed the responsibility and role of an investigator for UCSD and remained in that role until 2022. In 2022 he became a narcotics investigator in Jefferson County where he worked with the TBI and DEA to solve drug trafficking cases. Returning to Union County, he became an SRO and worked in nearly every school. He credits not only the sheriffs but also Steve Rouse as his mentor.
Chief Crider replaces Brandon Ford who resigned to take a position elsewhere. Johnny Collins is the other officer for Plainview.
Chief Crider is “energized and ready to get to know the people of Plainview and work every day to keep them safe.”
Chief Crider's family was on hand to support his new position.
