I Am Not A Robot, I Create
We are all unique with the capacity for creativity and artistic expression. Through purposeful creation we form physical manifestations of our uniqueness. Of course, there is not simply just one correct way to do anything and with that idea we find that there is infinite strength in individualism. What one person may envision and create given a blank canvas can be, and often is, vastly different from another person's creation. That was greatly displayed at the Union County Heritage Festival's Art Show on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The Historic Snodderly House at 720 Main Street was filled with creativity from students, amateur artists, and professional artists of both two and three dimensional works of visual art.
Winners in the show were: Marvin Reed's Handmade Dulcimer took "Best of Show", "Best Heritage" went to Sloan Becker for "On Break", in two dimensional "First Place" went to Sherry L. Railey for her painting "Church - God's Promise", Shirley Keaton took "Second Place" with "Sunshine Bouquet", "Third Place" went to Victoria Thompson for her collage "It's Wine Time", "Honorable Mention" ribbons were given to Faye Hardin for "Scarecrow", Ruth Mihaltian for "President Donald Trump", Dianne Becker for "Cat and The Fiddle", Anne GlenSherrill for "Front Porch Is Best For Fiddling", Mary Mincey for "Just A Pear", Sloan Becker for "John Carter's Cabin", and Glenda Nicley for "Country Scene." In the three dimensional category "First Place" was taken by Sherri Joachimi for her jewelry piece "Now An Angel - My Dad's Truck Key", Steve Scruggs took "Second Place" with "Knuckle Head Pumpkin With Seeds", and Anne GlenSherrill took "Third Place" with her quilt, four square, "My Mama's Hands Are Filled With Love".
It is often during the creative outlet of Art that we are able to find our voice and sense of self as an individual. Art is essential to the human equation. We possess the ability to create.
And.......ART IS A LOT OF FUN! So join in and be a part of the Festival Art Show in 2019.
Thank You to Jerrys Artarama of Knoxville, 5220 Homberg Drive, for sponsoring the Art Contest with prizes for our winners.
