Horace Maynard FFA Chapter receives Living to Serve Grant from National FFA Organization

The Horace Maynard FFA chapter in Maynardville, Tennessee has been awarded a Yearlong Living to Serve Grant in the amount of $3,000. The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support yearlong service-learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health and nutrition; and community engagement.

Horace Maynard FFA plans to help address the poverty issue by raising fruits and vegetables in our chapter greenhouse and at a local farm. The members of our chapter will work first hand to see the project through. We will grow and distribute the harvest to local families around our county to help alleviate poverty. We plan to host many workshops throughout the year for more people to get involved and inform the community. We will host food banks and deliver if needed. The program provided over $260,000 to FFA chapters in 32 states. For more information, call (865)992-5232 and ask for the Ag department.
