Heritage Festival Pie Baking Winners
Brittany Bowlin's Grand Champion Pecan Cream Pie
Carol Pratt of Union County FCE and Abby Thomas of UT Extension Union County announced the winners of the 2024 Union County Heritage Festival Pie Baking Contest. FCE Judges tasted and judged the overall appearance, the crust and the taste in addition to reviewing the recipe with each pie. Brittany Bowlin was named 2024 Grand Champion Pie Baker and received $100 for her Pecan Cream Pie.

In the Fruit category, Ariona Payne won first with her Fresh Fruit Pie. Kathy Venturella received a second place for her Apple Pie. Nancy Pritchett placed third with her Apple Blueberry Pie. In the Nut category, Kathy Venturella won first prize for her Chocolate Pecan Pie. Elizabeth Tindell's Caramel Pecan Pie took second place, and Ella DeWitt's Texas Trash Pie received third place. The Cream/Other category produced the Grand Champion as well as second place for Brittany Bowlin with a Pecan Cream Pie. First place in this category went to Kathy Venturella for her Bittersweet Chocolate Pie. Sam Davidson saw his Dark Chocolate Caramel Macchiato Pie take third place.
Proceeds from the online pie sales help fund the many projects of UC FCE.
