Heritage Festival contests include everyone
Enter an Ag Exhibit
Muster up a bit of competitive spirit or follow your nostalgic heart for some good ole memories of pumpkins, pies and pictures. The 18th Union County Heritage Festival has a contest for everyone.
Union County businesses can enter the Business Front Decoration Contest hosted by UT Extension Union County. Paint a window or door in a fall theme, illustrate a country music song or a legend like Carl Smith. Illustrate the Festival theme of “Follow Your Heart” or set up a fall display. By September 28, enter the contest online at tiny.utk.edu/heritage 22. Contact Shannon DeWitt at 865-992-8038.
Bake your favorite fruit, nut or other pie to enter the Pie Baking Contest, also hosted by UT Extension Union County and sponsored by Union County Farm Bureau. Take the pie to the Farmers Market Pavilion on Friday, September 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact Alyshia Victoria at 865-992-8038.
Paint a picture, photograph a scene, or sculpt a wooden or ceramic masterpiece. Each artist can submit three pieces of work in either 2D, 3D or photography for the Heritage Festival Art Show. Bring your art to the Myers Building (formerly the Ailor/Byrd Funeral Home) on Wednesday, September 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. to enter. Sponsored by Betty Bullen Art, the contest is for amateur artists. Quilters can enter the Heritage Festival Quilt Show sponsored by the Union County Historical Society. Bring up to five quilts to the Union County Museum on Thursday, September 29, from 1:30 to 6 p.m.

Everyone from kindergarten to adult can enter the Agriculture Exhibits Competition hosted by UT Extension Union County. Entries can be brought to Wilson Park on Friday, September 30, 8:30 to 11 a.m. or 1:30 to 4 p.m. Call Olivia Howard at 865-992-8038.
On Festival Day, October 1, enter the Heritage Olympics sponsored by A&B Bookkeeping & Tax Service. Egg and Spoon Race at 10:30 a.m., Feedbag Toss at 1:15 p.m., Nail Driving at 2:15 p.m., and Skillet Throw at 3 p.m.
