Goin' Somewhere: A picture is worth a thousand words

Union County, a small yet mighty portion of our state, consists of small businesses rooted in entrepreneurship and thinking outside of the box to larger businesses that boost economic growth and large job opportunities for new community members and graduates. This diverse array of opportunities allow for creative thinking, entrepreneurial drive, and “doing what you love.” Goin’ Somewhere Photography and Gifts is just one example of a small business that encompasses all three of those fundamental steps to success.
Capturing moments that last a lifetime within the Union County community is near and dear to, Plainview native, Misty Goin’s heart and the goal of her photography endeavors.
Born and raised in East Tennessee, Goin’s has loved photography since a young age. She recalls taking a small 110 film camera to the zoo when she was only 6 or 7. While, at the time, these photos seemed to only hold family memories that she could look back on, little did she know it would turn into a passion and business.
“Most shots were useless, but I was in love,” Goin said.
What once was unfocused photos of elephants and close up shots of monkeys, turned into creative portraits and beautifully edited prints that many will look back on and share stories about.
The saying "A photo is worth a thousand words" is one that truly encompasses the experiences of Goin. Those pictures of zoo animals tell a story of young exploration into what then turned into passion and her now perfected work shares a great story of personal growth, dedication, and persistence.
Goin’ Somewhere Photography and Gifts is rooted in family and community and has long cherished being able to provide lifelong images that individuals can hold and look back on for nostalgia. As of now, Goin’ Somewhere Photography is able to capture precious moments for families, graduating seniors, milestones, and newborns! Goin has heavily considered capturing memories of newlyweds on their special day, but has not yet added that to her portfolio.
After ever photography session or mini, she is able to create an unearthed time capsule that will last for years to come.
For those new to the community or unfamiliar with Goin’s business, she wants everyone to know that you and your moments are welcomed, loved, and cared about by her and in her business.
She also encourages community members to message her through Facebook at Goin' Somewhere Photography and Gifts with any questions.
Goin understands that many others share her same passion and drive for entrepreneurship and capturing those precious moments that last a lifetime. With this in mind, she always encourages the community to support their favorite photographers and other small businesses through sharing posts, likes, and comments on social media.
