Fresh Cup of Something New
Imagine it, you walk in the shop and the first thing that greets you is the smell of freshly brewed coffee as you run in for quick cup of joe before the day begins.
Weather it be the thing that you cannot start the day without or the thing that is continually brewed all day, many of us enjoy the rich flavors and aroma of coffee.
Now, you can enjoy a cup from a new business in town called Ridge and Valley Coffeehouse that is located almost in the heart of Maynardville.
Coming from Clinton, Tennessee Emily Falardeau has brought Union County a small piece of the global coffee market.
Falardeau originally started this business endeavor in downtown Clinton under the name Clinch River Coffee, but she had lived Maynardville and always wanted to move her business here especially after the COVID-19 pandemic started.
Ridge and Valley Coffee House made its way to Maynardville in June, but before then Ridge and Valley Coffeehouse started joining the Union County Famer’s Market in order to get their foot into the door of the Maynardville community.
While they were only able to sell coffee beans and grounds at the farmer’s market, they were able to meet people in the community and start the connections that they are branching from now.
Unlike some coffeehouses Ridge and Valley roasts their own coffee beans which are bought through a company named Café Crayola, but before the green, raw coffee beans make their way to the whole seller they are shipped from places all across the globe.
Ridge and Valley Coffee is normally provided with coffee beans from Malawi and Papa New Guinea.
Once the beans are delivered to Falardeau, she takes them home and roasts them fresh every week.
“I would say we have had a lot more support than what we did in Clinton,” Falardeau said, “It seems like its much easier to get involved in the community here.”
In the coming years, Ridge and Valley hopes to grow and expand in their business as well as community presence.
“I guess my dream is for it to be a meeting spot where people can feel comfortable,” Falardeau said,” I want it to feel like they are a part of something here.”
If you have never visited a coffee shop, you may want to make your way to Ridge and Valley to try something new or if you are an avid coffeehouse visitor that enjoys trying new places, this should be the next stop on your list.
Coffeehouses are a great place to set down and let the productivity flow or simply meet up with an old friend.
You may just decide that you will have to make a weekly stop at the business in town and for those of you that can not give up the freshly brewed cup that you drink on your front porch every morning you can always stop by and pick up a bag of coffee to make yourself.
