The Union County FCE Club took a wonderful trip to Cades Cove in July. They started off the day with a cup of coffee from the Artistic Bean in Townsend and then made their way to the loop. As they drove around Cades Cove, they made some stops at the churches, cemeteries and the Cable Mill area. They were able to see a bear, turkeys and a deer.
Then they enjoyed a picnic lunch, which was closely watched by a crow, who scoured the ground meticulously for any crumbs after they left. The rain mainly held off until they were exiting the park and heading off to get a sweet treat from Burger Masters in Townsend. Thank you to Carol Pratt, Denise Cooke and Brenda Osborne for driving their cars.
Join us for our next county FCE meeting on August 15 at 10 a.m. We will have the Fashion Revue contest, guest speaker from the American Red Cross, and a potluck lunch at the Extension office in Maynardville.
What is the Fashion Revue Contest? Get your creative juices flowing with a whopping 17 categories. Whether you’re a sewing superstar or a T-shirt embellishment extraordinaire, there’s a spot just for you. Check out all the details and categories in the Fashion Revue handout, which you can pick up at the UC Extension Office.
Don’t forget to bring your masterpieces to the August 15th meeting. First and second place winners in each category are due to the Education Chair September 1 for competition and judging. First and second place winners at the regional contest are eligible for the TAFCE State Fashion Revue Contest. Winners are responsible for transporting the item to TAFCE State Conference.
The goal of FCE is to enrich our lives through shared experiences and learn more about our home and communities. We have a lot of fun.
