October holds the precedent for the year for the Union County Farm Bureau as the Board of Directors holds the Annual Meeting each fall. This year, amongst a board room daunted with beautiful autumn colored tables and décor, friends and members gathered to recap the year and look forward to a good kickoff to the next.

The regular monthly meeting was held at 6:30pm with the Annual Meeting following at 7:00pm. The night was kicked off with a delicious meal whipped up and served by the Farm Bureau Women.

The mission for the board and others across the state is “to develop, foster, promote, and protect programs for the general welfare, including economic, social, educational, and political well-being of farm people of the great state of Tennessee.” In conjunction, the Farm Bureau Women serve with a special emphasis to those phases of the Farm Bureau programs that center in the home and rural community, and to enable farm women to have a major voice and role in the development and promotion of these vital program objectives.

Events like Union County Farm Day and Ag in the classroom activities are an outreach of Farm Bureau to youths in the community introducing them to the farming and agricultural atmosphere, practices, and products. Scholarships to high school seniors, 4-H support, and much more are offered in the community as well, by the board.

Laughs and stories were shared by all during the annual dinner. A small business meeting was followed by introductions and trailed by some wonderful door prizes amongst the guests.
