Family Community Education Club
By Abigail Thomas, FCS Agent
The FCE club of Union County has been busy the last couple of months. In April, we attended the Spring Fling luncheon at Temple Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. The Spring -Fling consisted on crafts, lunch, hat parade, awards ceremony, garden shop, and guest speakers Neal Denton and Heather Kyle from Knox County. On May 16th, we gathered at the Union County Extension Office for the annual Spring Luncheon! The topic for this year was Cyber Security by Dr. Sreedhar Upendram and Maggie. Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event from the decorations, food, prizes, registration, and more! The room was abuzz with excitement as attendees settled into their seats, eager to learn about the latest trends and tips in cyber security. Dr. Sreedhar Upendram kicked off the presentation with an engaging overview of current cyber threats and practical advice on how to protect personal data. Maggie then took the stage, sharing real-world examples and interactive demonstrations that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The luncheon was not just about serious discussions; it was also a time for community bonding. The food was a delightful mix of local favorites and innovative dishes, each one a treat for the taste buds. As the luncheon drew to a close, attendees left not only with new knowledge and a heightened awareness of cyber security but also with a sense of camaraderie and community spirit. It was a day well spent, and one that would be remembered for its perfect blend of education, engagement, and enjoyment.
The June Meeting will be held on June 20th. June is National Dairy month! To celebrate national Dairy month, we will be carpooling to Mayfield Dairy Farms and Sweetwater Valley Farms. We will tour each facility and have lunch at Sweetwater Valley Farms.
