Extension Interns a Local
UT Extension Union County shares history with many folks across Union County through memories of childhood involvement in 4-H, farming, seeding, canning, sewing, and more. Over the years our county has seen some admirable Extension Agents. The agents are true leaders that invest time and love into their careers and communities. Currently there are two agents on staff locally, Shannon DeWitt, agriculture, 4-H, and County Director, and Rebecca Hughes, family and consumer science and 4-H. Beth Bergeron is the Farmers Market and 4-H Program Assistant and Ashley Mike the Administrative Assistant for the office, equaling a well established team.
A new face has joined the team for the summer. Union County native and daughter of retired Extension Agents Bill & Debby Morgan, Mary Morgan, will serve as an intern for ten weeks in Union County. She will balance her time working with the 4-H programs, Farmers Market, and Agriculture programming. Mary has recently completed her Sophomore year at the University of Tennessee at Martin where she is pursuing an Animal Science Production Business Management Degree. She is a 4-H Alumni with a rich background in many aspects of Tennessee 4-H. During her 4-H career, Mary participated and won on the state level in the sheep project, as well as participated in and led other projects such as sewing and arts and crafts. Mary served as a Puppy Raiser for two years for Leader Dogs for the Blind for two years. Growing up on the family farm in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, Mary stays busy working with the animals in between schoolwork, if she ever gets spare time she enjoys reading, crocheting, and knitting. She savors her time home from college with family and old 4-H friends. As she enters her junior year at UTM, Mary is considering a career in the agriculture or animal science field. Her internship at UT Extension Union County will provide her insights and experience into the educational world of Extension in general. She feels that agriculture is a broad field of study that completing her Bachelor of Science will be a first milestone towards her career goals. Excitement is shared across the county as we welcome Mary Morgan as summer intern for 2018.
