Down on the Farm

Down on the Farm had a great turnout today where 4-Her's had the chance to share information with Maynardville Elementary like how to take care of their animals, be safe with their farm equipment, learn how dairy is made and learn how bees produce honey.

At the entrance, they gave out little baggies with all sorts of cool stuff.

Farm safety: They talked about how to safely use a mower and tractor, the main parts of a chainsaw and why we wear helmets.

Beekeeping: They talked about how to keep bees, how bees make honey and how the queen bee takes care of the hive.

Dairy: This section talked about how to milk a cow, where all our dairy products come from and they brought a chicken to pet afterwards.

Environmentalists: They were talking about the environment and why we should take care of it.

Pigs: There was a pin that held 3 pigs and they talked about the anatomy of a pig and why they are so helpful.

Petting section: There was a fluffy bunny and a goat that everyone who passed was able to stop and pet them.

Grown on a farm section: They talked about how everything they brought was originally grown on a farm.

In conclusion, Down on the Farm was a very fun day where children could learn and have a good time.
