Creamed curried cabbage
Here we go again with cabbage. Have you ever added curry powder to your cream sauce for cabbage? I like curry powder, but not too much of it. Just enough to flavor is my style. This recipe is so good.
CREAMED CURRIED CABBAGE
Medium head of cabbage
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 1/2 tablespoons plain flour
2 cups half and half or light cream
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 cup corn flake crumbs
1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine
Cut or coarsely chop cabbage to make about 6 cups. Cook cabbage, covered in small amount of water until just tender. Drain and set cabbage aside. Meanwhile, make a thick white sauce using the 3 tablespoons butter, flour and half and half. When thickened add salt, pepper and curry powder. Next, place cooked and drained cabbage in buttered casserole. Pour sauce over all. Stir lightly. Sprinkle with buttered crumbs and bake at 350 F. for 25 minutes or until bubbly.
