Collins Insurance wins 2021 UCBPA Golf Classic

Collins Insurance Agency took first place in the 2021 UCBPA Scholarship Benefit Classic held at Three Ridges Golf course in Knox County. Team captain Josh Collins also sponsored the Putting Contest.
Second place honors went to Ryan Burkhart's Team. When GRIID Infrastructure's team had a last-minute conflict, D Jay Taylor offered to play for GRIID. D Jay's team brought home third place for GRIID Infrastructure.
Individual prizes included the Longest Drive on Hole #17, Closest to the Pin on Hole #5, and Closest to the Pin on Hole #16. Shane Campbell will be going to the Bristol Race as his prize from Food City for the making the longest drive. Dustin Strange shot closest to the pin on hole #16 and will enjoy playing for rounds of golf at Dead Horse Lake Golf Course. Bryan Walton received four rounds of golf from Three Ridges for his effort on hole #5. Joel Griffin's hole-in-one garnered him a cash prize on the putting green.
Before the tournament, the 24 teams enjoyed barbeque with all of the fixin's from Li'l Jo's Bar-B-Que and fresh baked cookies from Subway and Tindell's Farm House Bakery.
During the tournament, golfers stayed refreshed with beverages from Pepsi Company, Eagle Distributing, Cherokee Distributing, and Cumberland Gap Distributors.
Each golfer received a door prize of a free round of golf at Three Ridges or a shirt custom printed by Goin' Somewhere Photography & Gifts. Other door prizes and goody bags were provided by Food City, Tammie Hill Realtor, Union County Chiropractic, the Sign Guys, Frito-Lay, First Century Bank, Union County Extension, Corum Bookkeeping Services, Sara Lee, Flowers Bakeries and the Toppins Family. Event sponsors were Food City and the Union County Education Association. Nearly 70 businesses and individuals were hole sponsors.
The 2021 Union County Business & Professional Scholarship Benefit Golf Classic added over $10,000 to the UCBPA Charities, Inc. Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the golf tournament enable Union County Graduating Seniors to realize their higher education goals. Annually UCBPA awards three scholarships: the Jeffreys Memorial Academic Scholarship ($3750), the Career & Technical Scholarship ($1000), and the Founders Scholarship for Service ($500). Since 1991, UCBPA has awarded more than $115,000 to over 100 seniors.
