Chocolate caramel bars
You can't go wrong with a German Chocolate Cake mix. Add some nuts and caramels to it and you have a winner again.
CHOCOLATE CARAMEL BARS
German chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 egg
TOPPING:
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup evaporated milk
14 ounce package caramels
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix dry cake mix, softened butter and egg until crumbly. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the mixture. Press remaining crumbly dough into an ungreased 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until crust appears dry. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in small saucepan over low heat, combine the extra margarine, milk and caramels over low heat, stirring occasionally, until caramels are melted. Pour over crust. Sprinkle with nuts and reserved crumbly mixture. Bake at 350 F. for 25 to 30 minutes or until crumbly topping is lightly browned. Cool. Refrigerate until caramels become firm. Cut into bars.
