The Union County Chamber of Commerce is seeking to fill the position of President of our Chamber of Commerce. Overall responsibilities include serving as Chief Executive Officer of the corporation, overseeing daily operations, serving as ex-officio of all committees. A bachelor’s degree in economic and community development, and experience in grant writing and marketing is preferred but not required. Background checks and fingerprinting may be required for certain grants. Overall Responsibilities

The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Union County Chamber of Commerce, a 501© not for profit corporation. He/she is responsible for oversight of day to day activities of the Chamber under direction of the Board of Directors and consistent with the Chamber’s By-laws, applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, and good business practices. The President is a non voting member of the Board of Directors, and exo-officio member of all other committees. The president is the principle representative of the Chamber.

Principle Duties

Duties shall be carried out as time and resources permit in accordance with priorities established by business needs and in consultation with the Board of Directors.

Education and Experience Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in economic and community development or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants also should have experience developing and administering a budget using sound fiscal management principles. The applicant should be prepared to submit to a background check and fingerprinting as required for certain grant programs. Preference will be given to candidates who have management experience, especially involving economic development, marketing, tourism or an equivalent combination of experience and training, as well as experience with grant writing.

Knowledge and Skills

The incumbent should possess professional maturity, creativity, objectivity, good judgment, and excellent decision making and problem solving skills. Should be able to communicate persuasively and possess a record of being a team player, forming effective working relationships, and building consensus. Should be well organized and time flexible.
