Bringing country home for Christmas

Stage decorated with trees and presents for Christmas with a band of musicians on stage

The Union County Opry Christmas show, "Bringing Country Home," brought love and hope to the audience.

Like a warm blanket of love, the Union County Opry wrapped the audience in Christmas cheer at the 2021 Christmas show, “Bringing Country Home.”
Singing and playing tunes from Elvis to the Eagles with a spice of Cajun and more than a sprinkle of nostalgia, musicians evoked dreams of the star, the tree, the gifts and the hope of the season.
“The Star of Bethlehem” had the audience voices blending with the performers to send the message of love, peace and hope. Debra Keck's “Jingle Bell Rock” had the audience swaying in their seats. Danny Cooke transformed to the King of Rock to remind the audience that some will have a “Blue Christmas” without loved ones.
The celebration continued after a short intermission. Santa and the Cooke grandchildren auctioned a guitar signed by all of the Opry’s performers this year. The $800 raised in the auction will support the Larry Carter Scholarship which helps fund college tuition for a Union County graduate who wants to pursue a degree in music or agriculture.
The Grinch joined Santa to distribute stuffed toys to children during the Opry presentation of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to town.”
Attendees donated coats to the Coats for the Cold organized by Randy Turner. Solos and all musical arrangements had the audience feeling the spirit of coming home to a country Christmas.
Season tickets are now on sale for the 2022 schedule including the Bellamy Brothers on September 10.

Danny Cooke's Elvis impersonation complete with those famous hip gyrations entertained performers and the audience.

Melinda Jessee's soprano solos brought visions of the original Christmas mother and child.
